Online File Storage

A web service that lets you transfer large files quickly and securely. You can use DropSend with a free account and benefit from five file transfers per month up to a size limit of 4GB. However by signing up for a paid account, you can increase your file transfer limit and also have the possibility to back up your data online using DropSend’s secure servers.

Dropping in

After choosing the type of DropSend plan you want, you can open up an account by entering your first and last name, your email address and a password.

DropSend requires users to choose a password that is at least seven characters long and does not include any spaces. These limits are explained on the signup page and are the only restrictions in DropSend’s password policy for users.

Keeping it safe

Unfortunately, DropSend does not offer a comprehensive protection to all of its users. Only those signed up to its most expensive plan, the Business plan, are able to have their data transferred over a secure 256-bit AES connection. Moreover, DropSend does not provide many security options to protect users’ accounts and your password is the only barrier that prevents other people from breaking into your account. Two-step verification is not yet an option on DropSend.

Not quite in control

There aren’t many security settings that users can modify. By logging into your online account, you can edit details like your email and password from the My Account tab. You can also change the privacy settings of files and folders stored on DropSend’s cloud storage from the sharing options and set passwords that protect access to specific files or folders on your account.

Dropping names

DropSend collects personal data from their users when they sign up for an account to use their service. This data is only used to help DropSend provide its users with their service and process subscription payments and is never used without users’ consent. Personal data is never sold or disclosed to other companies for commercial reasons and DropSend commits itself to follow a strict policy on data protection.

Dropping out

It is very easy to delete your DropSend account. You can do so by logging into your account, clicking on the My Account tab and scroll to the bottom of the page where there is a link named ‘Please cancel my account’. After clicking on this link and confirming your decision, your account will be deleted.

All clear

DropSend has a good security record and there have been no news about hacking attempts on its service.

All alone

DropSend is a very simple file transfer and online file storage service that doesn’t require users to add third party functionality to it. DropSend may send users newsletters and promotional material about other companies by email, but users can decide to opt out from this any time they want.

Tracking your information

DropSend gives paid users the option to get a return receipt which confirms that files have been successfully delivered to their recipients. There are no other methods that let users see how their information is being used or shared by the service.
